Their music is compelling, emotional, and dynamic, melding elements from their backgrounds in American and Middle Eastern traditions with modern influences and the refinement of their conservatory training to deliver a performance that is unique, poignant, and mesmerising. Annie Stokes' 2023 EP "Wild Rose" is the product of the delicate dance between cultivation and surrender. After releasing an award-winning full-lengh album in 2021, she found herself adrift in the Virginia music scene - until she began to collaborate with her producer and co-writer, Austin Bello. The subsequent four-track EP embraces the song structure and honesty of Americana music, while highlighting Stokes' lyrical prowess and modern songwriter influence. Tickets $5 at the door.

LIVE - Orbital PlanesSaturday, August 24th 6-8 PM
Singer/songwriter Jenna Greene is reaching new heights, quite literally, with her band Orbital Planes. Despite her sunny disposition, Jenna has always used songwriting as a way to navigate through life's lows, tackling heartbreak, uncertainty, and self-doubt with her pen. Initially hesitant to share her melancholic tunes, she worried about dampening the spirits of her audience. However, in the cozy and creative company of her friends Jacob Bordwine (Bass) and Neal Reid (Drums), Jenna feels empowered to embrace every emotion and idea. Now, with the addition of The Ashtons—Ashton Brown (Keys and sound engineering wiz) and Ashton Davison (Lead guitar, vocals, and songwriter)—the band is gearing up for an exciting new chapter and a tour on the horizon. Their music, blending upbeat melodies with poignant lyrics, captures the rollercoaster of life's highs and lows in perfect harmony. And the name Orbital Planes? Well, it's a nod to that very dichotomy—whether you're tapping your toes or wiping away tears, there's something in their songs that resonates with everyone. So get ready to dance, sing, laugh, cry, and everything in between with Orbital Planes! Tickets $5 at the door.

LIVE - Charlie MaplesSaturday, August 31st 5-7 PM
Singer, arranger and songwriter, Erin Dalton (arr. for Amythyst Kiah, Bill & The Belles) with husband Andrew Gibbens, drummer (of previous band projects this mountain, Amythyst Kiah, Listener), join in melodic and harmonic rhythm with fellow singer-songwriters Isaac Ratliff (Sorrel, Florencia & The Feeling) on electric piano with some smooth BGVs, and Phil Ling (Tree Hollow) on bass and reverberating guitar. But then, like a Charlie Maples cat, Phil moved to New England. In steps multi-instrumentalist Taylor Green (also formerly of this mountain, Amythyst Kiah, and currently Mind Modes) to hold it down on bass.
Charlie Maples mines the classic jazz catalogues, calls out with the Rhythm and the Blues, and flirts with the wavelength of Michael McDonald. The band’s members represent combined decades of musical exploration, performance, touring, composing, and recording in genres ranging from jazz, classical, folk, and hip-hop, to R&B, old time, rock, and ambient. Like the namesake feline, Charlie Maples was born in East Tennessee. Tickets $5 at the door. |
